Sunday Church School is an educational arm of the church that instructs children in Bible study and the rites and traditions of the Episcopal Church. It enables children to make choices that lead to spiritual growth, thus building a strong basis for a growing faith. A structured program of study, the Episcopal Children’s Curriculum, is used at St. James’. Students range in age from pre-K through high school. Sunday School classes for Junior and Senior High students meet for an hour on the second and fourth Sundays beginning at 9.15 a.m. Youth Fellowship meetings are held on the other Sundays. The pre-K through fourth graders meet every Sunday at 9.15 a.m. for Godly play.
St. James’ Academy
The mission of the St. James Academy is to help young children reach their full potential through academic and cultural enrichment experiences in an after-school environment.
St. James’ Academy is an after-school tutorial and cultural enrichment program located in the inner city at St. James’ Episcopal Church, Lafayette Square in Baltimore, Maryland.
The Academy program services about 55 students, ages 5-10, three days a week without cost. We receive students on an open enrollment, first-come first-served basis. Many of our students join us from neighboring schools and the surrounding communities of Lafayette Square, Harlem Park, Sandtown-Winchester and Upton in West Baltimore.
All students are welcomed and the program is offered free of charge.
